With most satellite navigation systems today you will get the standard, 4.3-inch display, but with the TomTom XXL IQ Routes you get a 5-inch screen, which makes viewing maps a lot easier. You will pay more for the bigger screen, but when you consider that the screen is actually one third larger than what you will get with other models, this is really quite a bit of a difference.

The TomTom XXL IQ Routes offers the same, easy to use interface that you get with all TomTom GPS devices, but now you can easily see the data on the screen. When you tap on the map you will be taken to the main menu where you will have two screens that offer several navigation choices, including Help Me, Navigate To, Map Corrections, and Change To, plus more.

Some additional features that you get with the TomTom XXL IQ Routes include multiple segments routing, and with the Help Me feature you can get navigation to the nearest police station, hospital, and fuel station, plus there is even a First Aid guide included. You will also get several navigation options, such as an address, postcode, and home. The device comes preloaded with over 7 million points of interest so that you can easily find whatever you are looking for, even if you are in an unfamiliar city.

One of the most attractive features of the TomTom XXL IQ Routes satnav is IQ Routes. With this feature you can find the fastest route to your destination, even during rush hour traffic. The device will automatically take into account the traffic on a particular route according the day of the week and time of day. Although you don’t get live traffic conditions, the IQ Route will help to speed up your trip.

Although the TomTom XXL IQ Routes GPS is a high quality device, it does lack some features that could have made it even better. With the XXL IQ you won’t get Bluetooth, a multimedia player or built in traffic management, though you can upgrade and get TMC with an RDS-TMC traffic receiver, and a subscription.

The TomTom brand of GPS is known for being one of the best brands available; they continually offer high quality, reliable satellite navigation devices, but with the 5-inch display that comes with the TomTom XXL IQ Routes, this device seems even more attractive.

If you don’t mind having to pay extra for traffic alerts, the TomTom XXL IQ Routes is definitely worth the price, especially if you want to see the maps on the screen better.
