With the TomTom go 950 Live satellite navigation system you get a high quality device that is solidly built, and offers numerous features. With the large touchscreen that comes with the 950, you won’t have any buttons so using the device is simple.

The processor that comes with the TomTom Go 950 Live makes this device fast so there won’t be any waiting for the unit to calculate your route; it will pinpoint your location quickly, even when you first turn it on. Although the speaker is located on the back of the unit, it is loud enough that you should have no problem hearing the voiced guided navigation, plus you with built in Bluetooth you can connect to your mobile phone for hands free use. There is also a microSD slot so that you can use the device to view pictures that you have stored on a microSD card.

You get a variety of options to input your destination with the TomTom Go 950 Live; you can input your destination with a postcode, through the points of interest database, in addition to favorite destinations and recent destination. Also, the unit will provide you with several different routes to choose from, including fastest and shortest route, as well as a new Eco Route, which is the route that will save you the most fuel.

Once you have selected a route, the TomTom Go 950 Live will give you information on distance and estimated time of arrival. You will also get live data such as traffic conditions and fuel prices, and the safety cameras along your chosen route. Some additional information that you will get while on your journey include your current speed, as well as the speed limit for the road you are traveling.

Another useful feature that comes with the TomTom Go 950 Live is the Help Me option; this feature is great to have if you have mechanical problems while driving, or if there is a medical emergency. This feature will give you information and phone numbers for the closest fuel stop or mechanic shop, and even a First Aid guide. Lane guidance is also nice to have so that you can be sure you are always in the right lane to make your turns.

There is no doubt that the TomTom Go 950 Live is a high quality device that comes with more than enough features to make it a worthwhile gadget for driving, but it is costly and the Live features do require that you pay for a monthly subscription.

If you do a lot of driving the TomTom Go 950 Live could be a good investment, but if you do most of your driving locally, you could probably do just as well with a basic model.
