The recent cold snap seen in the UK has resulted in plenty of snow and huge traffic jams, but many TomTom sat nav users have managed to avoid these jams.
As is usually the case in the UK once the snow comes along traffic seems to come to a stand still, adding hours onto the journeys of some drivers and causing chaos on the roads. However, it seems that during the recent bad weather many drivers using TomTom sat nav devices have managed to avoid many of the traffic jams as a result of using this advanced technology.
With the heaviest snowfall in the UK for thirteen years many roads were gridlocked recently, and those without devices such as sat navs often had to sit through the heaviest of traffic because they were not aware of any alternative route that may have been less busy. However, reports have shown that TomTom users were often able to effectively re-route their journeys due to the HD Traffic System integrated into the device.
One driver who got stuck in the terrible traffic jams that have been seen over the past couple of weeks said: “I am always grateful to have my TomTom on hand because I have terrible geographical knowledge and would never find my way around without it. However, with the heavy snow and many roads and motorways looking more like car parks I was double grateful to have it on hand this week.”
The bad weather also resulted in many trains and buses being cancelled, with the UK being totally unprepared for such bad snow, and this resulted in an increase in the number of people that had to get in their cars and drive to work because there were no public transport options open to them.
