» TomTom sat nav drivers can drive to the voice of Homer

Simpsons fans that use sat nav devices in their vehicles will be pleased to know that TomTom has now launched a new Homer Simpson voice to help guide you to your chosen destination.

Since sat nav systems hit the mainstream market manufacturers have tried different ways to jazz them up and make them stand out more, including using a range of celebrity soundalike voices to guide drivers to their chosen destinations. However, one sat nav manufacturing giant, TomTom, has now decided to try something a little different, which will come as good news for drivers that are also fans of the hit cartoon series, The Simpsons.

Following the striking of a deal with Fox, TomTom is now offering drivers the chance to get directions from the real Homer Simpson voice, aka Dan Castellaneta. Because the deal has been authorised by Fox drivers that want to listen to the familiar voice of bumbling Homer, everyone’s favourite dysfunctional Dad, when getting directions can rest assured that everything is above board.

TomTom sat nav users will now be able to download the Homer voice for their device via their TomTom HOME account, and the cost of doing this will be £7.95. The Homer voice will include the use of many of the cartoon character’s mannerisms and famous phrases, and for many drivers will make the journey considerably more amusing, although for some it may become distracting. It is also a great way to keep the kids amused on longer journeys, as they will be delighted to listen to the phrases that Homer comes out with whilst directing you on your way.

Officials have warned that there are other Homer voices out there for sat nav devices that are simply impersonations of the great cartoon star, but that this official one is actually the real thing.
