The RAC 315 Sat Nav is a larger unit in the RAC 300 line of Sat Nav units. The RAC 315 Sat Nav sports a widescreen 4.3 inch touch screen display. This display is crystal clear and does a great job of showing the current route and surrounding area as well as the intended route to your destination. Because of the widescreen perspective of the RAC 315 Sat Nav, there is more of the route displayed making it easier for navigation since you have a better view of the road and approaching exits. With a few taps on the screen you can enter your destination and be on your way. The display on the RAC 315 Sat Nav is also a highly sensitive touch screen that the driver can use to enter the destination details as well as access other menu functions on the unit.

The RAC 315 SatNav also provides a choice between 2-D and 3-D views of the road ahead and can be selected by the driver as one of the options. The RAC 315 SatNav comes equipped with a night view mode that will automatically adjust the brightness of the display to compensate for the darker driving conditions of the evening to make viewing the directions easier.

The RAC 315 Sat Nav comes pre-loaded with full street level mapping for the United Kingdom and Ireland providing complete navigation for those areas. In addition to these maps, the RAC 315 Sat Nav also includes a complete database loaded with points of interest along your route to help you find the nearest ATM, fuel, or restaurant to make your trip easier. You can select one of these locations and the RAC 315 Sat Nav will add it to the current route, bring you there, and then back out to the original route. These locations can be searched by postal code or type of location to make it easy to find the one you want. The RAC 315 SatNav also includes a complete database of fixed safety camera locations. These locations can be configured on your unit to alert you on approaching one so you can adjust your speed if needed.

The unit also comes with home sync software to allow you to add even more details for your trip onto the RAC 315 SatNav, like weather forecasts and travel guides for locations you may visit. This expands the usefulness of the RAC 315 SatNav well beyond simple navigation. The unit uses a highly sensitive GPS chipset and will find your current location and destination very quickly to calculate your route. If you make a wrong turn or encounter a detour, the RAC 315 SatNav can quickly re-calculate your route and get you back on your way. Considering the coverage of the maps and all of the included features, the RAC 315 Sat Nav is a very complete Sat Nav unit at a reasonable price.
