Finally Garmin has come out with a satellite navigation system that offers a sense of style, as well as function. The Garmin Nuvi 3790T comes in a nice metallic casing, and features a glass capacitive touchscreen.

With the Garmin Nuvi 3790T you get an ultra thin and stylish portable navigation system; this unit is only 12mm thick, and though it is cased in metal, it is still fairly light and easy to take with you. On the front of this device is a 4.3-inch screen that comes with a resolution of 800×480, plus it features multi touch technology.

Some of the new features that you get with the Garmin Nuvi 3790T include a MyTrends feature. With this feature the device will automatically enter in a destination based off of your own personal travel history. This is a very convenient function and makes it easy to get to where you are going. If you always visit your mother on Wednesday afternoons at approximately the same time, the system will enter this destination if you boot up on a Wednesday afternoon.

You will also get some nice pedestrian features with the Garmin Nuvi 3790T, such as hands free function with Bluetooth. Some of the additional features that come with this device include 3D terrain and cityscapes, as well as data on where the speed cameras are located and traffic lights.

For navigation the Garmin Nuvi 3790T comes with text to speech function, junction view, and lane guidance. You will also get traffic messaging, though unfortunately this isn’t an Internet capable device like some of the other Garmin GPS systems.

One of the problems that is apparent with the Garmin Nuvi 3790T as soon as you switch on the device is that it takes some time to boot up, and often takes up to three minutes to pinpoint your location. The unit will also take a minute or two to calculate a route. Although these problems may not seem like a big deal, when you are in your car and ready to go, it can be frustrating to wait for your satellite navigation system to locate your position and calculate a route.

Although the Garmin Nuvi 3790T is a solid satellite navigation device, its price tag is a little steep. Due to its slow routing and locating function.
