The Garmin 255WT Sat Nav unit represents the top of the line in the Garmin 250 line of products. It includes a widescreen 4.3 inch touch screen display that is used for presenting the route and directions as well as entering destination details. Having this wider screen can be an advantage as it displays a larger picture of the road and terrain and makes navigation a little easier. The Garmin 255WT SatNav will display the directions to the intended location as well as call out turns and exits verbally. The unit has a selection of voices and additional ones can be downloaded for even greater customization.

The Garmin 255WT Sat Nav comes pre-loaded with street level mapping for all of Europe. In addition, it has a large database pre-loaded of points of interest along your route. These are handy in case you need to stop for fuel or to find the nearest restaurant along your route. The Garmin 255WT Sat Nav also includes a full fixed safety camera database and will sound an alert when you approach one of these locations. This option is activated for a trial period and there may be additional charges to keep this option active on the Garmin 255WT Sat Nav. The driver also has the choice of adding personal points of interest to the database on the Garmin 255WT Sat Nav, like roadway blackspots or school zones and having an alert sound when approaching one of these as well. The Garmin Nuvi 255WT SatNav has a “Where am I” function that will give your current location at the touch of the screen and the closest locations for fire, safety, food and other key services you might need. It gives the driver the ability to select between either the quickest route, the shortest distance or an off road route that will choose roads that are less traveled. The Garmin 255WT Sat Nav also gives drivers the ability to have the unit avoid toll roads or even highways completely if they choose. This model of Garmin even has an “Eco-route” feature that will calculate the route cased on the best fuel savings.

The Garmin 255WT Sat Nav has a host of features in addition to the navigation. It includes a world clock, currency and unit converter as well as the ability to store and display photos. Another nice feature is that the Garmin 255WT Sat Nav also supports location tagged photos. What this means is that if you have downloaded a picture off of the web that has location-tagging information attached to it, the Garmin Nuvi 255WT SatNav can navigate to the exact spot that the photo was taken, just based on these tags. The Garmin 255WT Sat Nav also has an anti-theft feature called Garmin Lock that will disable the unit unless either a secret code is entered, or the unit is taken to a secure location. This means if the unit is stolen, it is useless unless unlocked by one of these methods. Considering all of the features packed into this unit, Garmin has done an admirable job of providing a great combination of options for a very attractive price.
