If you are looking for a basic, entry-level satellite navigation system, you might want to consider the Garmin Nuvi 205. With this device you get a traffic receiver that can also provide you with information such as fuel prices, local events, news and current weather, plus more.

The thin design of the Garmin Nuvi 205 makes it very portable, so it is easy to slip into your pocket or handbag. Along with being small enough to carry with you, this device also come with a windshield mount so that you can use it while driving as well.

When viewing a map on the Garmin Nuvi 205 you can view in 3D mode while getting relevant information displayed right on the screen, including your next turn, distance to your next turn, in addition to the speed limit, and your current speed. Another helpful navigation feature that is included with the Nuvi 205 is an arrow located between the street name and distance to your next turn. The arrow is pointed in the direction you will have to turn; this is helpful if you want to know in advance the proper lane to be in to make your turn.

The Garmin Nuvi 205 comes with preloaded information on points of interest, including stores, fuel stations, and more. You will get about 6 million points of interest in 14 different categories. Another attractive feature that is included is the ability to program in your home address so all that you have to do is tap on the screen twice to get direction from anywhere, to your home.

Of course you also get navigation to a specified location by simply inputting that address into the system. Once you are on your way, if you happen to miss a turn the system will automatically calculate your route to the quickest way to get back on track to your destination.

There are no problems with the navigation and routing features of the Garmin Nuvi 205. Although this system does display your next turn, it doesn’t provide a warning tone to let you know when you are getting close to the turn. Unfortunately, the 205 don’t come with text to speech like the 255 so you will have to pay more attention to your screen for directions.

The Garmin Nuvi 205 is an entry level satellite navigation system, but it is a high quality device that offers some nice features so you probably won’t even notice that it isn’t a high end device.
